Exceptional carpet KHORASSAN (Persia), end of the 19th century Dimensions : 500 x 237cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation. A superb anthracite polylobed floral medallion, with a red heart in brace and a delicate polychrome vegetal decoration, is enthroned, surrounded by four pistachio flowered and arrowed caissons, in the center of a magnificent cherry red abraché field. Two imposing pendants in accolade, arrows and old gold interlacing complete the central decoration. Four superb anthracite spandrels with polychrome floral scrolls and hunting scenes surround the whole. Seven borders (the seven steps leading to paradise) frame this majestic carpet; six small ones with garlands of flowers and one, the main one, anthracite with undulating garlands of flowers in various colors. Superb quality of conservation, very beautiful wool. (Carpet of palace). A certificate of authenticity of the expert, Mr Frank KASSAPIAN, will be given to the purchaser.
