FLANDRES
Exceptional, fine and very important Tapestry of Flanders: Oudenaarde. Late 17th - Early 18th century Diane the Huntress and Actaeon Wool and silk. In a richly wooded and green undergrowth setting, where peaceful bodies of water bask in a hilly landscape and while two ducks take care of their offspring, a loving couple, having stopped in this idyllic place, offers us another, more gallant and less violent version of the meeting of two mythical hunters, Diane and Actéon. They are pushed into each other's arms by a mischievous little cupid. While a majestic, imperturbable perched parrot and a dog, symbol of fidelity, watch the scene. The frame is represented by a delicate braid of polychrome flowers and leaves. Good general condition, nice freshness of colour, remarkable finesse of execution. Ht. 260cm - Width 460cm
