Original KAZAK carpet "KABRISTAN" (Caucasus), late 19th century, early 20th century
Dimensions : 275 x 180cm.
Technical characteristics : wool velvet on wool foundation.
A jagged anthracite field, with multicolored flecks, decorated with floral corollas, small animals, gems, stars of Medes and various other small Caucasian symbols, hosts three jagged rhomboid medallions linked, old gold and navy, with stylized multicolored vegetation. They are framed by two serrated ruby symbolic representations of the "Winged Sun" (Faravahar), a representation of the Persian god Ahura Mazda or its equivalent, in the Armenian pagan pantheon, Aramazd. The main ivory border is a succession of crosses and polychrome arachnids, flanked by two anthracite borders, with garlands of flowers. Internal counter border with chess pieces sky and brick, in positive / negative. Resumption of a "Chirvan" decoration for this carpet "Kazak" of very beautiful Armenian workmanship. Great presence.
