Important tapestry of the Royal Manufacture of Aubusson (Fra - Lot 616
Important tapestry of the Royal Manufacture of Aubusson (France), middle of the XVIIIth century, Louis XV period Dimensions : Height : 232cm ; 315cm. Technical characteristics : In wool and silk. (Restorations of maintenance, some natural oxidations) A waterfall, a village in the distance, a farm, fields and a wooded setting serve as a country setting for a pastoral scene. While a farmer rests from his work, a small flock of sheep and a bovine graze under the watchful eye of the shepherdess. This one has the glance attracted by a "gypsy" carrying her child on the back and telling the "good fortune" (activity which exists since the XIth century), with a young credulous peasant woman having her son clutched to her petticoats. A crown of multicolored flowers serves as a figurative frame. A certificate of authenticity of the expert, Mr. Frank KASSAPIAN, will be given to the purchaser.
