BUGATTI 49 Cabriolet – 1930 - LOT RETIRE DE LA VENTE!
Following the Bugatti 44, which was the most produced model with 1095 units, the Type 49 was launched in 1930. It was the last of the 8-cylinder line, which began with the Type 30, and was equipped with an 8-cylinder, 3.3-liter engine with three valves per cylinder and a single camshaft. The Type 49 was produced in 470 examples until 1934, with various body styles: closed, similar to the old 44, 4-seat convertible or roadster. Most of the 49 cars were bodied by GANGLOFF, the coachbuilder from Berne, who had taken over the Winderkehr company in Colmar. The Type 49 is renowned as one of Ettore Bugatti's best creations, and was a great commercial success after its presentation at the Paris Salon in October 1930. It has the advantage of being able to be used in two ways: calmly in the city or sportily on the road. The car presented here was acquired more than 20 years ago by our collector from the Tarn, a remarkable enthusiast. This car, with its elegant bodywork made by Gangloff, is in a remarkable condition. All the elements show sobriety and refinement, color, interior. An icon of the radiant France of the 30s. Estimate on request. LOT WITHDRAWN FROM THE SALE
