Antique and curious OUCHAK carpet (Asia Minor),... - Lot 433 - FEE - Stanislas Machoïr
Antique and curious OUCHAK carpet (Asia Minor), late 17th century, early 18th century
Dimensions : 173 x 112cm.
Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on wool foundation.
A brick field serves as a setting for an archaic prayer decoration. Trees of life serve as columns. The main mihrab ivory, decorated with multicolored flowers and surmounted by a symbolic flower, is in fact an interlacing of stylized dragons. We are in the presence of a carpet making the transition with the ancient Armenian church carpets and Ottoman prayer rugs inspired by an ancestral Armenian-Caucasian decoration. Blue counter-borders with small polychrome squares and main border old gold with a series of hexagonal boxes decorated with flowers in polychrome. Work very certainly Armenian OUCHAK, very close to the "grain" of carpets LOTTO. Very rare. Museum carpet.
