Antique and curious OUCHAK carpet (Asia Minor),... - Lot 433 - FEE - Stanislas Machoïr
Antique and curious OUCHAK carpet (Asia Minor), late 17th century, early 18th century Dimensions : 173 x 112cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on wool foundation. A brick field serves as a setting for an archaic prayer decoration. Trees of life serve as columns. The main mihrab ivory, decorated with multicolored flowers and surmounted by a symbolic flower, is in fact an interlacing of stylized dragons. We are in the presence of a carpet making the transition with the ancient Armenian church carpets and Ottoman prayer rugs inspired by an ancestral Armenian-Caucasian decoration. Blue counter-borders with small polychrome squares and main border old gold with a series of hexagonal boxes decorated with flowers in polychrome. Work very certainly Armenian OUCHAK, very close to the "grain" of carpets LOTTO. Very rare. Museum carpet. (Natural oxidation and wear of time)
