Important and magnificent carpet KABRISTAN (Caucasus), end of the 19th century Dimensions : 305 x 160cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on wool foundation. A navy blue field with flowers, gems, animals, ornaments and other symbols, hosts four multicolored hexagonal medallions, linked, crenellated and hooked, with stylized vegetation. They are highlighted by a frieze of small checkered boxes. Two Faravahars (Zoroastrian symbol) with serrated brick branches, surround the whole. Main border ivory with oak leaves and chalices surrounded by two counter-borders with undulating ribbons. Sublime graphics inspired by paganism.
