KAZAK carpet (Caucasus-Armenia), late 19th century Dimensions : 260 x 115cm Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on wool foundation. A brick red field decorated with flowers, "Kotchaks" and diamonds hosts three imposing octagonal medallions, cruciform, stylized and polychrome. It is a decoration known as "birds' nests" or "Proshaberd" (Fortress of the Proshian), where around a heart with ethnographic decorations gravitate stylized eagles or dragons with spread wings and "S" all in polychrome. Two sawtooth counter-borders frame the main ivory one with interlacing multicoloured "S". Four two-tone highlights.
