Beginning of XVIIIth century War scene Inspired by a tapestry of Philippe de Hondt (Flanders, 1683-1741) Sequel to Don Quixote, exhibited in the New York Museum. In wool and silk. Beautiful polychromy. Some oxidation and natural wear. Beauvais border added. Height 280cm - Width 400cm Charles Coypel (1694-1752), painter to King Louis XV, illustrated twenty-eight of the most famous episodes of Cervantes' novel, published in two volumes in 1605 and 1615.
