"Verdure" tapestry panel from Oudenaarde. Beginning of XVII° century, called "Portière". In wool and silk. Restorations of maintenance. Natural oxidations. Height 286cm - Width 216cm. Oudenaarde tapestry panel from the 17th century, with an exotic vegetal environment with original plants and flowers unknown to Europe at the time, populated with some rare birds, parakeet, bird of paradise, parrot, coot, probably representing an Indonesian landscape with a significant relief. With a border also plant, decorated with bouquets and ribbons knotted, medallions imitating the forged metal, having for subject a landscape of greenery. To bring closer to the tapestries of Bruges having a similar border and reproduced in the book " The Flemish Tapestry " of Guy Delmarcel. Bibliography: The Flemish Tapestry, Iannoo, Guy Delmarcel, Tielt/Belgium-1999. Three large borders (the lower one is missing, rewoven in the 19th century by a counter border with cartouches making a balance) with sprays of flowers and foliage framed by medallions inlaid with floral basins and forest landscapes reminding the central subject.
