Beginning of the XVIII° century Scene of war Inspired by a cardboard tapestry by Philippe de Hondt (Flanders, 1683-1741) Suite from Don Quixote, exhibited at the New York Museum. In wool and silk. Nice polychromy. Some oxidation and natural wear. Beauvais border brought back. Ht. 280cm - Width 400cm Charles Coypel (1694-1752), painter to King Louis XV, illustrated twenty-eight of the most famous episodes from Cervantes' novel, published in two volumes in 1605 and 1615.
