LORI PAMBAK (Caucasus-Armenia), end of the... - Lot 106 - FEE - Stanislas Machoïr
LORI PAMBAK (Caucasus-Armenia), end of the 19th century A green field of water, abraded, with a Medes star pattern, hosts an important octagonal ruby counter-field, highlighted with bluish pearls. The star of this carpet is of course the cruciform floral composition with emerald green petals, highlighted in gold. Its ruby pistil is formed by two multicoloured entomological forms and two opposing "Kotchaks" (ram's horns). It is set in an ivory octagon with marine external hooks and reddish internal kotchaks, arrows and serrations. The center is with a sky and star of the Medes cartouche. Two marine octagons with fleurttes, two dates, 1320 A.D. (1898 A.D.) and two signatures complete the decoration. The frame is divided into four borders, two navy with flowers, one water green with polychrome pearls and another, ivory, with delicate undulating floral stems. Two-tone ivory ruby and gold highlighting. Magnificent example of a rare Lori Pambak, bursting with style and colour. Exceptional piece. 315 x 178cm Technical characteristics: Wool velvet on wool foundations Very good state of preservation Remarkable freshness of the colours and thickness of wool Piece of great collection (very sought-after and much appreciated) Good general condition Bibliography : - Battenberg antiquitäten katalogue, "Orientteppiche", Part 1: Kaukasische teppiche de Doris EDER, pages 71 to 79 - Le Tapis de Enza MILANESI page 121
